Two words about the Italian Carnival

Is carnival time, certainly in Italy Venice is the city symbol of this holiday. The floats that parade features between the squares, the breathtaking landscapes make this one of the best known and appreciated Italian event in the world.
At about 300 km from Venice we head in Versilia,  to the historical and suggestive city of Viareggio.
Known as exclusive seaside resort with beautiful beaches, is renowned in Italy and throughout Europe for its carnival.
But I can say with some pride that there is also another small town, certainly less famous, where the carnival is a tradition deeply felt: Putignano. The calendar is full of activities and events: the festival of the bear, masks, parade, dances and music ... really beautiful.
I go there every year, my girls are so much fun, and at the end of the evening after eating a pizza all in the central square where they make crepes strawberry and cream fabulous!
In the square  the center, there is a small caffè where to prepare  it so sublime! Putignano is to steps from Alberobello and Martina Franca which offers spectacular views of the Itria Valley.
If  by chance you are passing, I recommend you make a jump perhaps stopping in some bed and brekfast in the area, there are very beautiful and if you feel like sleeping in a real Trullo before enjoying the parade, you do not have that an embarrassment of choice...

CHOCOLATE LIQUEUR (LIQUORE DI CIOCCOLATO)



This is a delicious liquour that I prepare often because I use it to give a special touch to ice cream or for consume the easter eggs
Even to drink is excellent and always appreciated.

Personally prepare this recipe, only if I wait  guests because devoured them in a second!!!

CAKE WITH BLACK GRAPES (TORTA DI UVA NERA)



A long time ago, when I lived in Milan a friend of mine gave me a basket of grapes-strawberries, "too much I told" and so I used to make us the jam.
Really the best I've ever eaten, over time, unfortunately, this quality of grapes, are no longer able to find
My father last summer, gave me sweet black grapes I used to make a cake, from taste simple and genuine.

LEMON LIQUEUR (LIMONCELLO)

Is for some years now that I prepare homemade liqueurs, I enjoy and are useful for to the original flavors of desserts and creams.
This is the season of limoncello, taking advantage of the wonderful lemons that at this time the my tree is producing.
It is not exaggeratedly alcoholic (but if you prefer is sufficent increase the dose of alcohol) and after meals is always very welcome.

The chocolate salami is one of the favorite desserts of my sister.
The first recipe I tried to make, is of a my old classmate , then over time it tried others recipes, sweet salami with limoncello, with almonds and dried figs .The choice is yours!

The first time I ate the gnocco  fritto was in Milan five years ago.
 With my husband and some my dear friends, an evening all together, we had dinner  the tavern of "Gnocco Fritto".
 A really nice place, where they serve cold meats and cheeses accompanied by jams and honey, and also  these fried dumplings.
The origins are Emilia, this year I was able to retrieve the recipe that I hope you like it.

CASSATA SICILIANA


Although this cake is made ​​with ricotta cheese, my passion!

Sporca Musi

Call these cakes probably is a big word ... is actually a simple puff pastry with lemon cream.
In restaurants that offer local cuisine, usually after lunch there are, in bars in breakfast there is a similar version called half round or half moon.

SPAGHETTI ALLA SAN GIOVANNI




Typical dish Pugliese, prepare it when the fridge is empty, or in summer after returning from the beach with friends !  I do not like spaghetti, the only ones that I like is the format the number 3 of Barilla.
My own version only requires the use of tomatoes, olive oil and cheese.
